
New Nigerian Passport Application Fee Increased Effective 1st September 2025 – The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has publicly declared an increase in the fees for Nigerian passport applications, starting from 1st September 2025. This change is part of the Federal Government’s initiative to enhance passport processing, improve security features, and upgrade facilities to provide more efficient service.

New Nigerian Passport Application Fee Increased Effective 1st September 2025 – Updated Passport Fees
Starting from September 1st, 2025, the new passport application fees are as follows: (For Applicants Applying From Nigeria)
- 32-Page Passport (5 years validity): ₦100,000 (Including Payment Gateway Fee: ₦2000) TOTAL: ₦102,000
- 64-Page Passport (10 years validity): ₦200,000 (Including Payment Gateway Fee: ₦4000) TOTAL: ₦204,000
:For Applicants Applying From Abroad / Diaspora Prices Remain Fixed and Unchanged
- 32-Page Passport (5 years validity): $150
- 64-Page Passport (10 years validity): $230
Why the Increase?
According to the NIS, the review became necessary due to:
- Rising costs of production and logistics.
- Introduction of enhanced security features to curb passport fraud.
- Plans to modernize passport offices nationwide for better service delivery.
- Alignment with international best practices.
What Applicants Should Know
- All passport applications initiated before September 1st, 2025 will still be processed at the old fee.
- Applications made from September 1st onwards will attract the new charges.
- Applicants are encouraged to use the official NIS online portal to avoid fraudsters and third-party agents.
- Processing timelines remain the same: Regular processing (3 – 6 weeks) and expedited processing where applicable.
